History of the boat: The history of this lovely boat starts at the beginning of the 20th century. The boat was built to accomplish the order of the Russian Romanov tsar family of building a new passenger ship with protocol purposes. The boat was built in the city of Nizhny Novgorod at the Sormovsky shipyard. After placing it on water on the 21st of May 1903 and named after Velilikij Knyaz and than Alexander Mikhailovich, the boat was serving the tsar dynasty as excursion boat traveling on the Volga, Caucasus and Mercury. The boat was present at the major events of the beginning of the 20th century. The boat was renamed in 1917 to Kharkov and it was using this given name until 1924, following it the boat was baptized to Pamjaty tovarisa Azin than Pamjaty Azin. After this there is no more data found in the Russian Naval register regarding the boat. In 1996 the boat became Albanian property and it was renamed to Iliria. The new owner of the boat rebuilt it to the actual shape and capacity emphasizing its historical past with the totally renovated steamboat engine, amuzing its fans under the glass flooring of the Romanov coffee shop. During the renovation process the largest suite which was designed for the tsar, has been refurnished by the original plans. The furniture of this unique “tsars” suite was also manufacture on the basis of the original Russian planes. Since 2006 the boat is operating as the oldest and biggest restaurant and banqueting hotel steamboat museum in Central Europe.  

Rooms: The boat hotel has 40 rooms. 20 of them are overlooking the Danube River and the other 20 are overlooking the river bank of the Danube. All rooms have air-conditioner, shower and bath tub in the apartments, television, telephone, Internet, WIFI and refrigerator.

The pride of the boat is the “tsarist” suite, where the Russian atmosphere is dominant; the living room is spacious, and in the bedroom canopy beds make the stay even more comfortable.Two De Luxe apartments are located in the most quite area of the hotel, on the first floor. These consist of a comfortable living room (pull-out bed also available) and a bedroom, providing accommodation for 4 people. It has its own patio in the prow of the boat, with a spectacular view at the Danube River. There are 28 standard double bedded rooms available, some of them overlooking at the Danube River or the river bank. There are 9 rooms with 2 +1 beds, in these double beds and 1 separate bed are located. Among these there are also some with breath-taking view at the Danube or the river bank.

Meetings & conference:

The style of the restaurant is in perfect accordance with  the decor of the rooms, wooden floor and warm pastel colors are prevailing. The menu reflects the unique nature of water orientated life-style, it is mainly visualized by the wide selection of fish-meals. The cuisine is rather Hungarian style, but certainly waves of reform and fitt nutrition can be found. From the restaurant's terrace guests can enjoy the panoramic view of the Danube and the Buda-side river bank. In the breakfast room the guests can choose from the wide selection of buffet-breakfast. The catering facilities include a roof-terrace (Danube-room) which is perfect for a meeting up to 150 guests. The ship’s most exclusie place is the Tsar Cafe, which preserves the most from the ship’s past. You can see the renovated steam engine under the glass floor.

Danube hall
The hall is located on the top of the ship, provide round panorama for the visitors. The layout with round table, the holding capativity is maximum 110 persons, With rows of chairs it can be 230-240 maximum.

Disco room
Bachelor day, birthday party or looking for a place for a company meeting? The disco is the boat's own property, you can enjoy it for a party or any kind of event. The disco is equipped with full sound system for DJ’s or bands. 


This part of the ship is suitable for smaller corparate meetings.
